Well this has been a hellova year, from shingles to COPD to a frozen shoulder I think I've seen it all. But as they say, "You can't keep a mean old fart down for too long." All of this stuff has left me with little desire to do much on the Help Assist site, (actually anywhere) I really apologize for that. I know I started the "No Go Bus Show" and I let that slide. But I have overcome the shingles, I have the COPD under control (as long as I use my inhaler), and I am back to exercising my shoulder and I feel a lot better. Thank you all for being patient with me. (Any one out there know how to install power steering on a 1948 Silversides? I need it now, for sure.)
I have just finished bring the Help Assist up to date and I would like to bring the "No Go Bus Show " back into life right after Jack's "Bussin' 2009 if there is interest. I have some clever photos that were sent in and they are ready to go.
The first change with the Help Assist List you will notice is I broke the states listings down into 3 pages. That way the page will load faster and you can still navigate from page to page easily. Hope that makes it easier for you all.
Fianally, I will be playing DJ at Jacks Conrad's "Bussin' 2009" with all your old favorites, hope to see many of you there, and have fun.
Dave Siegel
Welcome back Dave!
How did I miss your news about the health problem to pray for?
I am sorry that I must have miss it.
I am glad that your better now.
Hopeful someone can help you get a power steering installed soon. I am in SC.
Are you still in near Fort Myers or Naples, Fl. ?
Take care, Gerald
Welcom back Dave. For some reason I dont think there are lots of people that know how to install Power steering in a silversides ;D Jim
I didn't want to make a big deal about not feeling good, but thanks for your thoughts.
That's the problem, finding a fabricator that can create a power steering system from nothing. But because of the hard steering of this bus I think it a very necessary thing to really start looking for.
Dave
Hi Dave, glad you are back in action!
If you start the "No Go Bus Show back...and I hope you do...take ours out...I think that ruffed some feathers...I think some folks thought it should not be in there...in the "DEAD" condition it is in.
Glad you are feeling better.
Jack-N-Dianne
Jack, buses are never dead till they are melted down yours is temporary out of service as for ruffled feathers they lay back down
good luck
I agree with Luvrbus........ your pictures were awful and belong in there as a contestant toward the world's ugliest 'Something".. LOL
Dave
Hi, Dave:
Welcome back. I just looked ( and registered) on the List.
In addition to splitting up the states into 3, how about a 4tf group of only Canadian?
Might be easier to find when all he!! breaks loose....
My 2.6 canadian pennies worth..
Mark
OK Stormcloud I am open to any. and all good suggestions. Explain to me what 4th means and how I can implement it on my site.
Thanks for the input.
Dave
Welcome Back Dave!
We've been wondering where you were. I personally figured you had sold the 3751 and retired to a small desert Island filled with lithesome young brown beauties, but Cat over ruled me, and said that your better half wouldn't allow you to go off by yourself.
Too bad we are headed the wrong direction, I've been wanting to build a power steering system for my PD4103, and wouldn't mind working on another old blacktop beauty at the same time.
Recently, I've been working on an air bag suspension assist for the back of my bus, and once I get a new pressure regulator, it should be in working condition. This will help support some of the load as we go down the road, and also help with leveling in the campground. If you are interested, I can take some photo's of what I've done and email them to you for a possible upgrade.
On another note, I'll be looking forward to the return of the no go Bus Show, maybe we can make it a Rally in Virtual Reality! ;D

Hey Dave
I'm know nothing about this, but it looked like it might help somebody someday so I bookmarked it. I will trade you the link for some American Chop Suey.

HTH Jim
Hey Jim, you head about my American Chop Suey, huh? Well I've been working on other recipes as well. If you would like, I'll share them, contact me off line at: davesiegeldesignsATgmail.com and I'll send what you want.
That power steering unit sure looks beefy, I wonder if it works? Would be an expensive mistake if it didn't.
Dave
Dave,
I've used Airomatic air assisted steering on a bunch of trucks back in the 70's.
It worked really well when moving around in city traffic or going down the highway. The trouble came when backing into tight spots.. it uses a lot of air and will deplete your system in very short order.
I've thought about adding one of those, but I wouldn't do it without adding a couple extra auxlliary air tanks and a higher volume air compressor. (I just recently installed a Bendix Tuflo 755 instead of my former Tuflo 500 and definitely don't depend on the Tuflo 400 as originally spec'd for the bus).
IHTH,
Dallas
Hey Dave, Like Sargent Schultz "I know nothing" about the system it is not a recommendation on my part. Just threw it out there for further investigation.
I actually had your chop suey, just like my mom's except you did not have green pepper in it!! It was at Riverbend Executive class A motorcoach resort and spa? East of Ft Myers on 80. Jim
Dave, I'm new to the bus team but welcome back. I can see that you're a do'er and get things done. I appreciate your 'help list' I hope to never use it but having it there is like a teddy bear as you sleep, it gives you some security and comfort. I'm down with a bum shoulder right now (rotator cuff) keep up the hard work on it and you'll be able to wave again before long.
Dave didn't realize you were down with health issues and hope your recovering well and fast. I have sent you about 3 emails requesting info change on the help list but its not been done. Could you please edit my email address to read:
ace@acerossimotorsports.com
Thanks
Ace
Got it Ace, no problem.....sorry for the delay.
Dave

Any one out there know how to install power steering on a 1948 Silversides?
There was a 1948 silversides with a DDEC 6-71 AND power steering at the last non-rally! - - A very nicely done installation.
He said you had to use a special gearbox (from a certain Kenworth, I think) & you have to 'customize' the pitman arm.
The author of this awesome bus knows his stuff, he is:
Russell's Diesel
2080 John Shehan Road
Mill Spring, NC
Maybe you two can help each other out. ;D
Wow Kyle, that's a great lead. I will drop him a note and see if he can help in my quest.
Thanks a whole bunch.
Dave
Welcome back DAVE!!! ;D
Glad to hear your keeping up!!!
Welcome back Dave,
Good to hear from you, and Thanks for the help assist list, you never know when I might need it! ;)
Take Care,
Paul

You will like the people at Russels. His 6/71 is the only one that comes close to sounding as good as yours. His work on it is just something to see.

Thanks for all the nice words folks. It feels fantastic to get your energy back, and get going again.
Thanks to those that turned me on to Gene Russell. He and I spoke on the phone this afternoon at great length. He said he will do the power steering on our bus, we are aiming towards Feb or March, that's when he slows down for the season. Besides I need to start saving some money.
I'll keep you all posted as to how that goes.
