Title: New Orleans - Dec 3-5 - Anyone interested?
Post by: Songman on November 24, 2008, 09:46:31 AM
Don and I will be heading for New Orleans the first week of December. We are heading down there for the International Work Boat Show at the Morial Convention Center. We got 20 VIP passes to the show and wondered if any Eagle owners would be interested in coming over for a little impromptu meet n'greet.

Clifford has spoken up for a couple of the passes and has suggested Bayou Signette State Park campground as a good place to stay. I checked out the website and it looks great. They have all kinds of cool amenities and offer 50' back in spots with 50amp hookups for $18 per night. If we can get Don's engine rebuilt and back in by Wednesday night, this is where we'll most likely be.

If anyone is interested in coming down speak up here and let's make some plans. If you want to attend the show, let me know and I will hold passes for you. But even if you don't want to go to the show, we'd still like to meet some folks and hang out for a few days.

Here's a couple of pertinent web sites.

I've stayed there before - You will be way below the canal (walk up the bank to the canal) - and wait till you see the size of the gators they killed INSIDE the campground.

Dale, don't let a few little gators scare you off I have never saw a large one there. like I told you my wife is allways try to catch one of the small ones and the park ranger laughs and ask her what is she going to do with it if she does catch one.But I can tell you if she does catch one the bus is not going to be big enough for me and the gator. The open seafood markets are a cross the canal with all the fresh seafood you want at a good price. see you there
good luck

We're working like crazy to get Don's engine back in. Not looking good since the guy who was doing the heads hasn't gotten them done yet. Don would have done them himself if we hadn't been going out of town. The guy has had them for a week and a half and not gotten them done yet. If we can't get the bus together we'll end up in a hotel downtown. But we'll still come out to the campground to hang out if anyone comes down. But we're still hoping to get the bus done.

This boat show is going to be huge. I've got 18 passes left if anyone wants to come.

That is true, Clifford. I got tons of information at the Pacific Marine Expo in Seattle last week that I am going to share on the forums as soon as I get time. On the Eagles board there is a thread going about batteries. I talked to a company that makes batteries that are basically like hyster batteries but they will fit in the footprint of an 8D. The guy told me he could give me 740 amps with six batteries. They would cost about as much as seven 8Ds but they are good for 10-15 years! I'll be sharing that and much more as soon as we get some breathing room.
