I finally got around to building the dash for our Eagle. Haven't had one for quite sometime and frankly I was embarrassed to even sit in the driver seat. :'(
But it's all better now. ;)
I hope to get some clear coat on it today, that is if it warms up a bit! Notice my work bench and heated shop! Yeah right, but it beats trying to do it in the bus!
One more thing, now my steering wheel looks awful!
You can see more pics at my unique bus conversion site in my signature.
Happy Trails,
Paul
Paul,
Only six gauges, a tach and a speedometer? :o
What's the world coming to when a busnut doesn't have at least 40 gauges, 213 switches and lots of little flashing lights? ::)
Just kiddin', mate... It looks great!
Dallas
Yeah, I could have made it look like the starship Enterprise or the cockpit of a 747! ;D
I don't even have the tach yet, but I have a hole for it! ;)

When we were looking that was the best feature of the Bluebirds - massive number of gauges and switches - like the cockpit of a Twin Otter.
Very nice dash project. I love wood.
Hope your gauge's glass surface's angle is perpendicular below driver's eyes level to avoid outside light glare on gauge's glass. If not...you can add a hood around upper dash frame.
In my opinion....Wood dash blend into a home on wheels.
Looking Great!
Sojourn for Christ, Gerald
Hi Gerald,
We'll see how any glare affects the gauge viewing, I don't think we will have a problem as we have a visor, it does help quite a bit. ;) Of course it depends on if we follow the sun or not! ::)
Paul
Paul,
Looks very nice!
Something about creating something that just gives one a good feeling.
Or as they say, "if you don't lead, the views always the same" ;D
Regards,
Cliff
I like the wood grain a lot! Great job. I need to see pics of it in the bus ASAP!
A matching wood steering wheel would be perfect.
Really nice work. We lean toward custom wood too. But my wife has a question about the file box it's setting on-is that where you hide all your reciepts from working on the bus? No shortage of sawhorses then, huh?! ;D ;D
Can't wait to see it installed ;D
Paul,
Really nice, can't wait to see the finished product. Now I'm jealous.......
Bill
You guys crack me up! ;D
Will, tell your wife she's right about the file box! I think it's almost full and I have a loonnnggg way to go!
Cliff, I"m always following somebody but now I'll have something nice to look at while I'm trailing behind! ;)
Bill, Don't be jealous, it took lots of time and I'm not a cabinet maker. This is the first oak sawdust I've made ever!
I was hoping to get it cleared today, but no go, got to cold here last night and my garage has no heat at all. Maybe I should do it in the bus, put a small electric heater in their today while I'm working in the kitchen and had to turn it down! My wife decided she wanted the refer on the other side and back further, so had to do some remodeling from the first remodel! I still Love Her! :-*
I can't wait to see it installed myself! ;) But here is what it looked like this morning while it is curing!
Paul
Now I'm envious too! That is sweeeet ;D Looks very PRO! Do you hire out?

You're kidding right! ;D At this rate I might be able to do other work when I finish ours, maybe 2013. ::) ::)
If you need a new wheel, call VIP wheels directly. They are cheap. I only paid about $50. plus shipping for the one of my choice. Leather or wood costs more, but the poly one looks great too.

Thanks Lin, I intend to do that when I change over from Armstrong to power one of these days. Then I can get a smaller wheel! At least that is what is planned! You know how that can go! ;) I might go with wood, just like the feel of it, we'll see. My wife has me pretty busy with other plans! ::)
Paul
Paul,
Good job on your dash. That is a neat design. I'm sure that it took a lot of hours of work. Even your finishing looks very nice.
Congrats.
God bless,
John
Jack Conrad, when I read that about all the stuff I thought of you and Paula!
Jack
I finally got it finished yesterday! What a relief, now I can move onto the next project!
The switch lights look cool at night! ;)
Nice job paul, but where are the cup holders? When I drop off your new windows I'll either need a cup holder or a coaster for my coffee lol.
Your making Great Progress, Paul. Another neat project being finish.
Thank you for sharing.
Sojourn for Christ, Gerald
Your looking good Paul, Keep up the good work
Pete & Jean
FANTASY
Hey Cody, I'll have them installed by the time you get here! ;D I just haven't gotten that far yet. I intend to put one for my on the left side over my electrical panel in a safe and dry location! :D
I do have one for the copilot, so there ya go! You can use that one.
I know a cabinet maker could have done a better job, but ya get what ya got! ;) At least I can make some sawdust like the master!
Thanks for the comments Pete and Gerald, another project bites the dust!
Paul
